MEET OUR RESIDENTS
Dr. Margot Schmidt
Family Practice Resident Year 1
Dr. Schmidt grew up in the Bella Coola Valley, which has inspired a lifelong love of nature. She completed a BSc in Biomedical Studies at UNBC in Prince George, followed by an MSc in Kinesiology at UBC Vancouver. She went on to study medicine through UBC’s Island Medical Program in Victoria and is thrilled to be staying on the island for her Family Practice Residency. Outside of medicine, she enjoys cycling, pickleball, all things outdoors, and experimenting with gluten-free baking.
Dr. Erin Burnley
Family Practice Resident Year 1
Dr. Burnley completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Ottawa before moving to Hamilton, Ontario to complete her medical degree at McMaster University. Having grown up in Nanaimo, she is thrilled to be back home on Vancouver Island for her Family Practice Residency. Outside of medicine, she enjoys hiking, running, baking, and reading.
Dr. Jack MacGillivray
Family Practice Resident Year 2
Dr. MacGillivray is currently in his second year of residency in Family Medicine at the University of British Columbia. He has a strong interest in full-scope family practice including clinic-based care, acute care, and hospitalist medicine, with a particular focus on procedural work and the hands-on aspects of family medicine. He is dedicated to building strong patient relationships and collaborative care to support individual health goals. He looks forward to contributing to the community and partnering with patients to promote their health and well-being.
